The Fit Friends Initiative was established to bring hope through health, community, and social & economic impact. We do this by partnering with fitness communities to establish centers in underprivileged areas.
People thrive when they know they belong. We provide an opportunity for people to find a place to belong.
Community is built best around a cause - our cause is sharing the lifestyle of fitness to create a social and economic impact on underprivileged communities.
The exercise and fitness world can be incredibly inward-focused, leaving an ever unsatisfied person in the mirror. Shifting our focus to others, less privileged than ourselves, is an important sep in the pursuit of true well-being.
Everyone wants to make an impact on the world - we want our lives to matter. The Fit Friends Initiative is an opportunity to share your passion for fitness with the world and make a difference.
This story began with two good friends who were determined to make a difference.
Logan Markwell, a PhD. Student at UTK and Joshua Ward, the director of a nonprofit office got together and dreamed of what it would be like to connect their shared passion for fitness and the desire to see their world change.
It soon became evident that the fitness centers they had trained at for years had a gap. There seemed to be no connection between their individual need for fitness and the needs of others. Wondering what it would look like to create an outward focussed program for local gyms, the two of them set to work to establish a program that would be attractive to for-profit gyms and wellness centers around the world, but would provide inherent good to a community in need.
Today, the Fit Friends Initiative is a program poised to change the face of the fitness industry, opening the doors of selfless service opportunities to the fitness world.
The founders say, "this wasn't our plan, but we think it has the potential to make a difference."
Be a part of the difference.
